This stone is quarried from the Himekawa River in Niigata Prefecture. In Japan, it has long been known in traditional medicine as “Tora-me” (Tiger’s Eye) and has a history of being used for therapeutic purposes. Because it contains trace amounts of radioactive elements such as radium and thorium, it releases noble gases like radon and thoron. These properties are believed to produce a hormesis effect, which may help support immune function.
